  Double chin treatment, more formally known as Belkyra^™, is a deoxycholic acid and naturally occurring molecule in the body. Belkyra^™  is used in adults to improve the appearance and profile of moderate to severe fat below the chin (submental fat), also known as “double chin.”  Belkyra assists in breaking down fat cells or adipocytes, thereby decreasing the fullness under the chin.

  • How do I prepare for my Belkyra™ treatment?

    Before receiving Belkyra™ treatment, patients with a history of herpes or cold sores should receive appropriate treatment. Please remove all makeup, lotions, deodorants and oil from the area to be treated with mild soap and water. Patients should also refrain from taking blood-thinning medications or supplements, such as aspirin or ibuprofen, prior to their appointment.

  • What happens after my Belkyra™ treatment?

    After receiving Belkyra^™, apply ice or a cold pack to the treatment area for 10 to 15 minutes as needed. Immediately following your treatment, you are advised to avoid exercise and hot baths. We also recommend avoiding massaging or rubbing the area for 24 hours after the Belkyra™ has been injected. Belkyra^™ does not require downtime, so aside from these recommendations you may return to your normal routine as soon as the appointment is complete.
